At the end of 1986, still not having made a decision about what to do with my life and without a job in sight, I talked my parents into allowing me to return to South Africa. The idea was that it would probably be easier for me to get a job there.
Once in South Africa, I carried on with my search for love, trawling night clubs, sports clubs and bars. I am happy to say, I met with little success – not because I do not think that I would have found anyone decent, but rather because I think that any one I did find would probably have used me and discarded me.
After three months, various problems started to develop and the fallout was affecting everyone around, I returned to Redcliff.
